The Car2X Systems Alliance is a dynamically-expandable collaboration for collaborative intelligent transport systems, similar to the open standards and interoperability Internet, which takes up-to-date ICT innovations, providing novel approaches to system and software design.

The stated goal of CONVERGE is the definition of an architecture and interfaces for an open, distributed, supra-regional / international networking, operator-independent, scalable, flexible, secure and hybrid-communicating Car2X system network.

For this purpose, the network basics for a reference architecture (central, P2P, hierarchical) have to be defined. Furthermore, concepts are to be developed that include IT security and privacy as well as data management. To participate in the system network, appropriate software concepts are required. The design, the control and the realization of the information flows are to be ensured via mobile radio and ETSI ITS G5 and to provide interfaces to mobile nodes and infrastructure-side services.
